Our Philosophy

Gift of Light Childcare and Homeschool Learning Association is founded and established in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is our belief that each child is able and will learn according to their unique design. In other words, children will learn at their own pace while encouraged to excel in their best efforts of learning new things and fortifying things they have already learned.

Our BEST PRACTICES for each child who enters the Gift of Light Program include assessing and assisting each child in the development of lifelong (social, emotional, self-regulatory and practical) skills that also include reading comprehension, math and science etc. This foundational development focus will empower our young ones with an ever-evolving skill-set, as they grow. We accomplish this task through praying together, active listening, communication and play that enhances the learning experience. We aim to provide a firm foundation so they may effectively function in society.

Our mission is to guide and mentor your children while caring for them in a loving environment while they’re away from home.

Curriculum

The Curriculum for Gift of Light CC&HSA is based on a nine-month teaching cycle (dependent upon age groups). The months of July and August will incur more project-based (science) and outdoor learning, play, and fellowship. The curriculum encompasses basic Bible Teaching invoking morality of actions such as character, self-esteem, and emotional regulation (how to identify how we’re feeling and the response in shifting that emotion to more productive outcomes.) We also promote basic math and language arts skills in preparation for higher learning. The focus during the summer months will reiterate our curriculum-based learning year, in action! We understand that every child learns differently, this is why we incorporate play-based learning in everything we do!

We also incorporate scaffold learning into our curriculum! School-age children teach and read to the younger children. As the younger children grow in their academic skills, the older children learn leadership skills.

To broaden ways of communication, both sign language and Spanish are incorporated into our learning environment.
